The Project is supported by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI)
The project directly addresses the current economic challenges of the Sri Lankan society, and particularly food security crisis faced by the plantation community, aiming to promote family and community based support, providing food assistance, organizing community meals and awareness on food security and nutrition. Moreover, this project also aligns with the project thematic areas of Canadian Government, mandate of the Sri Lankan government as well as Ministry of Health.
Economic empowerment, food security, women empowerment are not only cross cutting issues, but they form the integral part of the very mandate of HDO and its partners. Ultimately, this action will lead and contribute to promotion of social stability, violence free - gender equality, and food security of the plantation community.
Protect food security of children, pregnant women, lactating mothers and elders in selected plantations through provision of food assistance, community meals and awareness on food security & nutrition for the most vulnerable in Estates/Divisions in selected Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Districts.
